Common Plumbing Problems

Plumbing issues are never fun to deal with but most homeowners in Wolfforth, Texas, will encounter at least a few. Clogged toilets and drains, broken pipes, and leaking fixtures are several of the most common plumbing problems. Certain plumbing issues are fixable on your own but most require the assistance of a professional plumber.

Clogged Drain

When a sink or toilet becomes clogged, you may or may not be able to unclogg it yourself. Signs of a clog in the drain include slow movement of the water and backup. While a clogged drain might not seem too concerning, it can lead to serious problems if left untreated. A toilet has gallons of water in the bowl and tank, which can cause significant damage if it overflows.

Clogged floor drains can also allow contaminated water from the main line that connects to the sewer into your home. If contaminated water touches your carpeting, you will likely have to tear it out and replace it completely. You can try some at-home fixes for clogs, such as using a plunger to force the item through the pipes or pouring boiling water, baking soda, and/or vinegar down the drain to break up the clog.

Broken Pipe

A damaged pipe can lead to serious damage in a short amount of time, so it’s important to watch out for signs of this problem. Sudden increases in water bills, wet spots on floors, walls, or ceilings, and dripping or flowing sounds from the walls can all indicate a broken pipe. You may also find that the fixtures in certain rooms don’t work when you turn on the taps. An experienced plumber should always fix a broken pipe.

Leaky Sink

A leaking sink fixture can waste hundreds of gallons of water every year, so it’s crucial to get it repaired as soon as possible. It may be as easy as tightening the gasket, but if that doesn’t stop the leak, call a pro.
