1. Have your gas appliances checked annually
This is a great way to help prevent gas leaks from ever occurring in the first place. Our certified technicians can check all of your appliances and gas lines with a gas detector to make sure there are no leaks. This can give you piece of mind knowing that all of your gas appliances are not leaking and are in proper working order.
2. If you smell gas, let someone know
The best thing you can do if you smell gas (smells like rotten eggs) is to call a plumbing contractor or call the gas company. Don’t try to fix the leak yourself, let a professional handle this problem. If you don’t know the phone numbers try and go to a neighbors house so you can safely make the call. Make the call and make it soon so no one gets hurt.
3. Leave the area of the gas leak
If you do smell gas, leave the area and then call the gas company or local plumbing contractor. This is very important because anything with a battery (like a cell phone) can cause a spark! After the call is made, wait for the technician to arrive so you can let them know where you were smelling gas.
