Furnace Problems We Repair

Our technicians repair gas and electric furnaces across Lubbock for homeowners and commercial facility managers alike. We’re factory-trained on Bryant and Mitsubishi equipment and work on all major makes and models. Whether the issue is a failed ignition system, a blower motor running hot, or a thermostat that won’t communicate with the unit, our team carries the parts and training to diagnose it accurately.

Common furnace failures we repair include:

  • Ignition system failure: Pilot light or electronic igniter not firing, leaving the furnace unable to produce heat
  • Short cycling: Furnace turns on and off in rapid, repeated bursts rather than completing a full heating cycle
  • Blower motor faults: Weak or no airflow from vents, or a motor running loudly and continuously
  • Heat exchanger concerns: Cracks or deterioration that require immediate professional assessment
  • Dirty or clogged filters: Lubbock’s arid, high-dust climate accelerates filter buildup and strains the entire system
  • Gas supply and burner issues: Inconsistent heat output or burners that won’t stay lit
  • Thermostat and control board problems: Miscommunication between controls and the furnace unit

We also offer Comfort Plans, our seasonal maintenance agreements, which can reduce repair frequency by catching wear before it becomes a breakdown.

Warning Signs Your Furnace Needs Service

Catching a furnace problem early can help you avoid the stress of a complete failure on the coldest night of the year. Watch for these indicators that your system needs a professional look.

  • Unusual startup noises: Banging, rattling, or squealing on startup often signal loose components or a failing blower
  • Uneven heat distribution: Some rooms stay cold despite the thermostat being set properly
  • Rising heating bills: A sudden increase in gas or electric costs without a change in usage habits often points to declining efficiency
  • Frequent short cycling: A furnace that runs only a few minutes before shutting off is working harder than it should
  • Burning smell from vents: Dust burning off at season start is normal; a persistent smell isn’t

A gas odor or a triggered carbon monoxide alarm requires a different response entirely. Shut the furnace off, leave the building, and call us immediately. Carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless, so a detector alarm shouldn’t be dismissed. Don’t attempt to diagnose or reset the system yourself.

In Lubbock’s dusty environment, check filters monthly rather than quarterly. A clogged filter is one of the most common causes of reduced furnace performance and one of the easiest to prevent.

Our FAQ

Have questions? We are here to help. Still have questions or can't find the answer you need? Give us a call at 806-454-9332 today!

  • What is the life expectancy of my unit?
Dependable Bryant and Mitsubishi products are among the longest lasting heating and cooling products available. For your specific equipment, there are many variables that affect life expectancy, and of course, the regularity of routine maintenance.
  • What does my warranty cover?
Under the standard factory warranty, Bryant and Mitsubishi covers parts that fail during the warranty period due to defect in the part. The warranty does not cover labor. A warranty certificate was included with your homeowner information packet, and is specific to the model numbers, serial numbers and installation dates of your products. If you cannot find your warranty certificate, Sinclair Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Inc will also be able to provide you with the information.
  • Which Bryant or Mitsubishi equipment will best fit my home?
There are many factors that affect the sizing and specifications of your system, including square footage, insulation, window surface and configuration, geographic location of your home, duct sizing and arrangement, and many others. Sinclair Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Inc can perform an in-home load analysis to determine which equipment combinations will perfectly suit your home and your family’s needs. Depending upon the construction of your home, one (1) ton of air conditioning can cool anywhere from 300 to 800 square feet of home. The only way to insure the size of the system you purchase will be large enough to cool your home, but not any larger than you need, is to have your home’s individual heating and cooling needs evaluated by a licensed professional.
