When Is It Time To Call A Plumbing Repair Company?

It’s a beautiful day outside and you’re ankle deep in water. Too bad you’re in your bathroom dealing with a gushing tub filler and not on the beach. Let’s face it, you’re not the handyman you think you are – especially when it comes to plumbing repairs. Fixing a running toilet is one thing but some situations require a professional. When is it time to call a plumbing repair company?
Under pressure. Low water pressure can be a symptom of many different problems: obstructions such as rust or debris, meter problems, or a blocked faucet aerator. You could spend hours trying to figure out the problem or you could call a trained plumber who can not only analyze the situation but fix it, too.

What a drain. Attempting to unclog drains has driven many homeowners to take drastic measures. A friend of mine went so far as to completely tear apart his bathroom trying to unclog his toilet; the problem turned out to be in the city’s sewer lines. Too bad they didn’t call a plumber first. Not only would a plumber have the tools to diagnose the problem, but more than likely they would still have full use of their bathroom.

Big freeze. If your pipes freeze, you must call a plumber to check them out. Just because you thawed out a blockage and water is once again running through them doesn’t mean your in the clear. As you know from high school chemistry, water expands as it freezes. When it freezes in pipes, that expansion often causes hairline fractures that become worse over time. Plumbers know the signs of damaged pipes and have the means to fix them.

It pays to know when to call a plumber. Learn your fix-it limits and call in the pros before you get in over your head.
